Your Add Math Study Schedule: 3 Months Before the Exam

Three months out is the most valuable phase of Add Math revision, and the most wasted. There’s enough time to do it properly, fix what’s weak, cover everything, and still reach full-paper practice with room to spare, but only if the early weeks go into the right work. The temptation is to jump straight to past papers; the smarter move is to build the foundation those papers will test.

Weeks 1–2: diagnose and fix foundations

Start with an honest diagnosis. Which topics are genuinely solid, which are shaky, and, crucially, is the foundation, algebra, surds, indices, sound? A past paper or a diagnostic session surfaces this fast.

If the foundation is weak, this is where you fix it, before anything else. More Add Math practice on shaky algebra helps very little, so these first weeks may be the highest-return of the whole three months. It feels slow, but it’s the base everything else stands on.

Weeks 3–8: consolidate every topic

With foundations solid, work through the syllabus topic by topic, weighting time toward the big, high-frequency topics, calculus and trigonometry first, but leaving nothing uncovered. For each topic: learn the method from the topic notes, then apply it to topic-filtered past-paper questions and the matching worked examples. Begin an error log now, it will pay off later.

This is the bulk of the three months, and the aim is coverage plus consolidation: every topic met, practised, and its common mistakes noted.

Weeks 9–12: full papers and refinement

In the final stretch, shift to full timed papers, both Paper 1 and Paper 2, reviewing each one thoroughly before the next. By now the content is in place, so papers become about timing, topic-switching, and closing the last leaks your error log has revealed.

The principle

Three months is enough to move a grade meaningfully, but the sequence matters as much as the effort: foundations, then topics, then papers. Front-loading past papers before the content is solid squanders the early advantage. This mirrors the 8-week revision plan, stretched to give foundations proper room. A specialist can build this schedule around your child’s specific gaps, message us on WhatsApp to start with a trial class.

Common questions

Is three months enough to improve an Add Math grade?
For most students, comfortably, if the time is used well. Three months is enough to fix foundation gaps, consolidate every topic, and still reach full timed-paper practice with runway to spare. The key is starting with diagnosis and foundations rather than jumping straight to past papers, which wastes the early advantage.
Should I be doing past papers already at three months out?
Topic-filtered questions, yes; full timed papers, not yet for most students. At three months the priority is securing the content topic by topic. Full papers work best once most topics are solid, so they belong in the final weeks. Doing them too early, before the content is in place, mostly demoralises.

Keep going

See the teaching work on your own child. Then decide.

Every student starts with a 1-hour trial class taught by the vetted tutor your child would actually have. Real teaching, a diagnostic on real exam questions, and a straight answer on the gap to target. One hour at your tutor's rate (RM80–90/hr), no package and no deposit, and you decide afterwards whether to book a weekly slot. Online anywhere in Malaysia.
